Mt Elizabeth Station is about as close to the heart of the Kimberley
region in Western Australia as you can get. Located halfway
between Kununurra and Derby on the iconic Gibb River Road, Mt
Elizabeth is a half-million acre, fully operational cattle station
that also welcomes guests. Join us at MtE on your journey through
the Kimberley. We offer accommodation, camping, delicious meals,
and authentic station life. MtE is owned and operated by the
Burton family, who have been Kimberley pastoralists for over
thirty years. MtE runs approximately 6000 head of cattle for
the family business, the Burton Beef Company, which supplies
delicious Kimberley beef to the local area. Our beef is the
highlight for dinner when you stay with us at MtE. With fantastic
Kimberley history and all the excitement of a working cattle
station, the Burton family welcomes you to enjoy their slice
of the Kimberley.

Wunnamurra Gorge
Wunnamurra Gorge boasts the majesty and beauty the Kimberley
is renowned for. Located approximately 12 km from the Mt Elizabeth
homestead, the track to Wunnamurra is extreme 4WD and will take
approximately an hour. If you are an avid 4x4 enthusiast this
is the track for you, testing your low-range skills. Once you
are at the parking area there is a 20–30 min walk into the gorge.
Follow the white-painted rocks from the parking area to the
river, turn left and follow the water down stream to arrive
at Wunnamurra. Enjoy the breathtaking view at the top lookout
where you can take in the scenery and relax in the flowing water
holes. Then descend into the gorge to swim in the deep cool
refreshing water under the magnificent waterfall. Follow the
river downstream in the gorge and explore this untouched, magic
part of the Kimberley. This pristine gorge will leave you speechless.
Wunnamuura Gorge from Mt Elizabeth Station
Warla Gorge
Warla Gorge is also commonly known as the Hann River Gorge or
to us at the station, The Beach. Located approximately 20km
from the Mt Elizabeth Station Homestead it is a relatively easy
4WD track taking approximately 45 min to drive and an easy 50
meter walk to the water from the parking area. Warla is the
perfect spot to take in the magnificent scenery the Kimberley
has to offer whilst you float about in the cool refreshing waters.
This gorge is also a great fishing spot, so while you relax
under the gumtrees flick a line in, and for the more adventurous
explore the Hann River up and down stream. The fine river sand
gives you a beautiful beachy feel and with meandering waterfalls
and some shallower waters, Warla is perfect for the entire family.
Warla Gorge from Mt Elizabeth Station
Mt Elizabeth offers two other tracks for our 4x4 enthusiasts.
Both tracks are only accessible via the MtE homestead where
full directions and information will be given. Due to our location
MtE receives a lot of rain between October and April each year.
It depends on the wet season, but we aim to have these tracks
open by mid May each year. The original Munja track is now under
management of the Wilinggan Aboriginal Corporation, the track
is closed and there is no longer access to the Walcott Inlett.
